RThe Sewri police have busted an illegal petroleum storage racket operating out of a cold depot on Fasberry Road near Mazagaon, arresting four men and seizing petroleum-like products worth nearly Rs 63 lakh. Four more suspects remain at large. 📖 Read More

2. Mumbai Sessions Court acquits man held with fake ₹500 notes worth ₹5 lakh after 4 four years in jail.

Mukeshkumar Suthar, a resident of Rajasthan, was acquitted due to several procedural lapses and unexplained delays in the investigation. The court noted that although the accused was caught with fake currency in January 2020, the FIR was registered only in January 2021. 📖 Read More

4. BMC launches special drive to clean Banganga tank after Tripurari Purnima aarti.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday launched a special two-day drive at the Banganga tank at Walkeshwar following Tripurari Purnima — a special aarti that mirrors the aarti along the Ganga ghats of Varanasi. Over 30 sanitation workers were deployed to clean out ‘nirmalya’ from the tank and its precincts. 6. HC directs ECI to consider 18-year-old resident’s plea to enroll as a voter.

The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Maharashtra chief electoral officer to consider the application of an 18-year-old college student from Mumbai seeking to be added to the electoral rolls for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. The HC however, warned that if every individual began submitting voter enrolment applications immediately upon turning 18, it would overwhelm the authorities with verification work and “open the floodgates”. 📖 Read More
