2. Bombay HC raps police for flouting BNSS norms, seeks Centre’s explanation.
The Bombay High Court has strongly criticised Maharashtra Police for failing to comply with the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, which mandates completion of preliminary inquiries within 14 days. 3. Bombay High Court gets bomb threat, premises vacated.
The Bombay High Court premises in the Fort area of South Mumbai are being vacated after receiving a bomb threat on Thursday. The other courts in Mumbai, including Bandra, Andheri, and Esplanade (known as Killa Court) in South Mumbai, too, received bomb threats and police deployed bomb detection unit on the court premises. The bomb threat was issued over email to multiple courts and banks, Mumbai Commissioner of Police said, assuring Mumbaikars that there was “no need to panic”. 4. Bombay High Court rejects seven bail pleas in Pune luxury car hit-and-run evidence tampering case.
The Bombay High Court on Tuesday (December 16, 2025) rejected seven bail pleas filed by eight accused persons, including Pune builder Vishal Surendra Kumar Agarwal, in the May 19, 2024, luxury car hit-and-run accident in Kalyani Nagar that killed two IT professionals. 📖 Read More
5. Mumbai Airports top the gold smuggling chart as DRI seizes over 1,000 kg worth ₹785 crore.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in its report stated that gold smuggling in the year 2024-25 remained concentrated in hotspots like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and West Bengal, serving as entry points or redistribution hubs due to their strategic location, more number of flights, and transit routes. In 2024-25, the DRI seized 1073kg of gold having a market value of approximately Rs785 crore, the report stated. Mumbai emerged as the main hotspot for gold smuggling through airports, far surpassing all other locations in both the quantity of gold seized and the number of cases detected. 📖 Read More
6. Western Railway announces 30-day traffic block on the Borivali–Kandivali section from December 20.
Western Railway has issued a traffic work order for the Borivali–Kandivali section in view of the ongoing construction of the 6th railway line. A continuous traffic block of 30 days will be undertaken from December 20, 2025, to facilitate the infrastructure work. During the block period, several train services will be affected. According to railway officials, a number of trains will be rescheduled, regulated, short-terminated, short-originated, or cancelled, while some services will skip their scheduled halt at Borivali station. 📖 Read More
